Oh, I’ve Heard Of Love

Oh, I’ve heard of love

The kind that sneaks up on you

and ignites a flame inside your soul

Oh, I’ve heard of love

Endless nights of tear stained pillows

The flame of love turning int a mere flicker, but somehow kept alive

Oh, I’ve heard of love

Hate fueled words spat at you

Accusations with no basis leading to abuse

Oh, I’ve heard of love

The exhaustion of mind games that make you lose control

Your mind becoming numb

Oh, I’ve heard of love

Controlling, manipulative kind of love

Transforming who you are permanently

Changing the good person you once were

Oh, I’ve heard of love

The kind that’s said to last till the end of time

Where are you?

For the love that once set your soul ablaze is gone

Only ash remains

Oh, I’ve heard of love

Yet I don’t see it or feel the fire within

The flame is out

Will it ever flicker again?

Oh, how I’ve heard of love

But who can ignite it anew?

For the flame of love is extinguished

All that remains are the ashes you’re drowning in
